Squat Recovery

At the risk of devoting this entire blog to knee pain, I’m happy to say that I finished my first squat session in about 3 months that left me completely free of knee pain. Worked up to 85% of my previous best squat and it felt solid.

This is very encouraging, and I hope to resume serious leg training soon.

Knee Recovery

Managed a 365 lb beltless deadlift today, completely free of knee pain. This is a huge confidence boost for me to have almost returned to my pre-injury potential.

I don’t get to the gym to train as much as i would like, but i am more determined than ever to continue loving my sport and loving myself.

Dealing with Knee Pain

Sorry for the long silence, life’s been going through some changes lately. I’ll probably have some big news to post soon.

In the meantime, here is a great article on fixing knee pain. I’ve struggled with knee pain  for a long time, one of the dangers, I realize now, of beginning a heavy lifting routine without ever hearing of ankle mobility.

I’ve used the drills and stretches in this article to great effect. Sadly, it doesn’t look like I’ll be hitting my christmas goal of that magical 500 lb deadlift. I’ve spent most of November shying away from heavy weights, on account of my old-man knees. Just finished my first deadlift session since October, however. Repped 315 without pain, so cheers to that!
